Monthly Update
I cannot believe that it is already the second half of my year out. It feels like the first half has flown in. God has done some amazing things last term and I am expecting even greater things off him for this next 6-7 months. I have started back with all the session I was currently doing before I left to come home for Christmas and it has been really good to see all the lads again. It is obvious that they have missed the regular contact with our team. I will also be working one day a week in the womans prison this term making my week that bit more full and so your continued prayers would be well appreciated. I've also started an NVQ level 3 in youth work as well, that has been funded by YFC. I am very excited about getting this opportunity and so please pray that I give it my full attention and not forget about it. I will be doing slightly more preaching this term as well, as I get more and more opportunities from both my boss Simon and my new mentor who is an evangelist for Youth for Christ. I am recently just back from a training week in Wales where we spent our time in an amazing hotel both praising God and hearing some very challenging sermons on what it means to being radical, and what it means to really giving your full life to the Lord. I am expectant this term and am hoping that God will continue to stretch and expand my gifts and his calling on my life.
Bible bit
The bible bit is slightly different this month, because God has been speaking through stories more so this month, and so instead of sharing a bible verse I am going to share a story.
There was a young boy walking along the beach (note the picture) when he noticed that there were thousands of starfish littered all across this sandy terrain that were slowly dying because they could not make it back to the sea. The young boy quickly started picking up each individual starfish launching it back into the sea, saving the life of each one he threw. A while later an older man walked down onto the beach and saw what the young boy was doing and so walked over to challenge him.
“What do you think you are doing? Said that man
“I am throwing these starfish back into the sea because if I don't they will die.” said the young boy with tears in his eyes.
The older man smugly laughed and said “But there's thousands of starfish on this beach, what difference can you make?”
The young boy picked up another starfish and threw it into the ocean and turned back towards the man and said. “I just made a difference to that one”.
Prayer requests
- My throat hasn't been the best recently so pray that I don't contract tonsillitis again!
- It seems like I have even more work to do this term so pray that God would strengthen me and continue to use me effectively
- I am getting more and more opportunities to preach this month, pray that would God would speak through me into young people's lives
- Thanks for how God has blessed me, but even more prayer that in this last term I would raise my last £1000
Financially
Thanks to everyone who supported me whilst I was home. I met my deadline of £1500 and so now it's time for the last big push. I have to raise the last £1000. If you claim the tax back on your gift that means you my supporters only have to give another £790. If 11 people pledged just £10 a month for the next 7 months that would be the target raised. If you feel you could afford to pledge just £10 a month that'd be amazing. Or if you don't like giving monthly and want to give a one off gift, then either email starfoxspart@hotmail.com to ask for a form.
Thanks for all your continued prayer and support
Andrew
